PRESENTATION OF THE FIRM

Python Schifferli Peter & Partners was founded in Geneva in 1981 under the name Pirenne Python Schifferli Peter & Partners. The first offices were set up at 3, rue Bellot, where half of the facilities are still located. In order to handle a rapidly growing volume of activity, additional premises became necessary and were found in 1986 at 9, rue Massot, only a few blocks away.

FOUNDER OF A LEGAL DATABASE

Around the same time, the Firm was instrumental in launching and developing the first Swiss legal data bank project which has since evolved into an autonomous company operating successfully now for several years under the name "SWISSLEX". In 1998 the American legal database providers and publishers "Westlaw" of the West Group joined as shareholder in Swisslex.

LOCATION

The firm now has branch offices in Berne, where Switzerland's main Federal Administration bodies are located, and in Lausanne, the seat of Switzerland's highest court, the Federal Tribunal. In 1998, an office was opened in Tokyo, Japan, Python Schifferli Peter & Partners thereby becoming the first Swiss law firm to be accredited by the Tokyo Bar.
